Le Mans 2003 | F&C Run InfoWelcome to the Le Mans 2003 Fish and Chip RunThe Le Mans F&C Run is an organised drive across some typical quiet French roads. Typical quiet French roads are great drivers roads and this route has plenty, including the infamous 'Courcite loop'. This is the 3rd Le Mans F&C Run and is an evolution of last years route, made slightly shorter to get us back to Le Mans a bit earlier. The run is primarily for Lotus cars but others are welcome. The run takes place on Friday 13th June. It starts at Beaumont sur Sarthe on the N138, 15 miles North of Le Mans and finishes back at Le Mans itself. The meeting time is 9:30 am for a start time of 10:00. Getting to the StartLeave Le Mans and head north on the N138 until you get to Beaumont sur Sarthe! It really is that easy. When you arrive at Beaumont sur Sarthe you reach a cross roads on the main road. Turn right here and follow signs for 'camping'.The meeting point is outside the Beaumont camp site. You'll know you're at the camp site when you see a line of flags with Lotus Elises parked alongside.
The RouteThe route is approximately 125 miles long. If you're in a hurry you can save 25 miles by skipping the Courcite loop (stage 3) but you'll be missing the best bit! The easiest way to navigate the route is to use a highlighter pen and trace the route onto your French road map. To make this an easy task I have created some high quality images to help you do this before you leave for Le Mans. Don't rely on printing out the stage maps as they don't all show the road numbers which are vital to knowing you're on the right road! Bear in mind that this route was devised from last year's road map with a few variations. There are no directions because it hasn't been driven and you may need to use your own judgement if you find a route barré or other problem.Stage 1 | Stage 2 | Stage 3 | Stage 4 | Stage 5 | Stage 6 | Stage 7 LunchNo organised lunch stop has been planned. I suggest you park up in smallish groups at one of the number of pleasant towns we'll be passing through. You don't have to look far to find a cafe. The FinishThe route finishes on the N138 south of Le Mans at the Mulsanne Straight near Tetre Rouge. There is no organised meet at the end of the route but if there's a supermarket or similar along the route close to Le Mans you're likely to find cars parked up in there.Road SafetyI'm not going to labour this point but it's an important one. Inappropriate speed is a very dangerous thing. Always expect someone to be coming the other way. Please drive responsibly and make sure you obey speed limits in the towns and villages en-route. When driving in convoy, look out for one another. If you turn off the road make sure the car behind you in your group has see you turn, especially if they are without a navigator.Remember you are in a foreign country. Injury to yourself, others or even your car is going to be especially unpleasant. Any Questions?E-mail me at liam@fourwheels.org and I'll try to help.
